Carrie Fisher - Much More Than A Princess

Carrie Frances Fisher (October 21, 1956 – December 27, 2016) was much more that Princess Leia.  Carrie was an American actress, writer, producer, and humorist.

Carrie's death and passing to a place far, far away is a moment to reflect upon her life and work.  Not only will Carrie Fisher live on in her memorable character from Star Wars, she's written a number of publications for generations to get to know the woman behind this Star Wars royalty.

The Princess Diarist (2016):  Released in November 2016, Fisher's last memoir incorporates the diaries she kept while working on Star Wars Episode IV:  A New Hope.

Shockaholic (2011):  Fisher's memoir focusing on her mental illness, her friendship with Michael Jackson, and her relationship with her father, singer Eddie Fisher.

Wishful Drinking (2008):  Fisher's first memoir based on her one-woman Off-Broadway show.  The book details her famous family, including Debbbie Reynolds, her father and her addiction. 

These Old Broads (2001):  Fisher's wrote this screenplay and also did uncredited work on the screenplays for The Blues Brothers, Sister Act, The Wedding Singer and many of the Star Wars films.   

Delusions of Grandma (1993):  Fisher's wrote this semi-autobiographical novel about a screenwriter named Cora who develops a paranoid fear of dying in childbirth.  The novel is made of Cora's letters to her unborn child, which tell her life story.

Surrender the Pink (1990):  Fisher's novel about a soap opera screenwriter who falls in and out of love and finds it difficult to separate showbiz from reality.

Postcards from the Edge (1987):  Fisher's novel which tells the semi-autobiographical story of an actress working her way through rehabilitation for drug addition.  She later adapted the book into a screenplay which can be rented on iTunes or through Amazon.
